Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, has called on the authorities of Igbinedion University, Okada, to intensify student-focused awareness campaigns on anti-cultism laws and related criminal vices.
Speaking at the university’s Senate Chambers in Okada, Ovia Northeast Local Government Area, CP Agbonika emphasized the importance of “sustained engagement with key institutions to curb criminal activities, especially among youths.”
He highlighted the challenges the Command has faced since he assumed office—including cultism, kidnapping, and other violent crimes—and stressed the need for campus-community cooperation in crime prevention.
Agbonika, who previously served as Commissioner of Police for the Mounted Troop and Force Equitation Officer at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, commended the university for its proactive stance. He acknowledged that no Igbinedion University student had been implicated in the ongoing crackdown on cult-related offenses in the state
