The Board of Trustees of Neo Black Movement (NBM) of Africa has officially dissolved its National leadership and set up a 15-Member Caretaker Committee (CTC) headed by Prince Akeem Zibiri with Barr. Kasim Otono as Secretary.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Hon. (Bar.) Isimeme Iriogbe, who announced the dissolution in a statement invoked the Movement’s constitutional provisions to activate an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism.
The statement said the resolution to dissolve the National leadership followed an emergency appeal from the National Executive Council (NEXCO) and other senior members, citing escalating internal discord, legal battles, and the recent demolition of the NBM National Secretariat by the Edo State Government.
“The administration tenureship under the leadership of Ese Kakor has come to an end with immediate effect,” Iriogbe declared. He further announced the disbandment of all parallel leadership structures operating under Fola Ogunmefun and Dr. Ishaq Osagie-Eweka.
The statement said the crisis within the organization has been marked by:
Suspensions and de-axations of high-ranking members, including past National Heads and Elders.
The existence of conflicting leadership structures between the NEXCO and the National Council of Elders (NCOE).
Multiple ongoing legal actions against the current leadership.
A blocked official bank account, due to litigation.
The demolition of the Movement’s national headquarters by the Edo State Government over alleged criminal and unlawful activities.
The statement added that the CTC is tasked with overseeing a three-month transition period, during which fresh elections will be conducted across all zones and a National Convention will be convened.
Representatives of the new CTC span global regions, including the United States, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Ghana, reflecting the NBM’s international presence. At the zonal level, three-man caretaker committees have also been constituted.
“All suspensions and de-axations from June 2023 are hereby lifted for the purpose of reunifying the entire members of the Movement,” the statement affirmed.
Furthermore, all forms of levies and donations have been temporarily suspended, and efforts are to be made to interface with the Edo State Government over the demolition and revocation of the NBM land title.
The BOT emphasized the urgent need to restore unity and constitutional order within the organization. “We must urgently reunite all aggrieved members and chart a constitutional path forward,” Iriogbe stated.
The ADR meeting was attended by key figures, including Hon. Tom Imafidon, Jimmy Nwajie, Prince Akeem Zibiri, Marcus Nwose, and others.
