Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City, under the leadership of His Grace, Most Rev. Augustine Obiora Akubeze, will on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, host the Jubilee of Governments — a major event within the global Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year of Hope celebrations.
The event, themed around justice, peace, and sustainable development, is scheduled to take place at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Mission Road, Benin City, beginning at 10:00 am prompt.
It will bring together priests, religious, Christ’s faithful, and key figures in governance, including political leaders, policymakers, and diplomats.
In a statement issued by Rev. Fr. Dr. Charles Omogiate, Chairman of the Committee for the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025, the Jubilee of Governments is designed as a platform to foster dialogue and collaboration among global leaders, urging them to align their actions with the values of justice, compassion, and the common good.
Highlights of the day will include keynote addresses by distinguished personalities, high-level panel discussions, and interactive sessions centered on ethical leadership in a rapidly changing world.
The event will also provide space for spiritual reflection, emphasizing the Church’s role in guiding governments toward people-centered and morally grounded policies.
The Archdiocese extends a cordial invitation to all priests, religious, and faithful within its jurisdiction to join in this landmark event aimed at building bridges between faith and governance.
