Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed joy at bringing development to the Udomi community in Esan Central Local Government Area, following the completion of a 2.5MVA injection substation in the area.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Fred Itua, the governor spoke during an inspection visit to the newly completed substation, which is now ready for operation.
Governor Okpebholo noted that the people of Udomi and surrounding communities had not witnessed such infrastructural development before now. He described the project as a significant milestone that would open up the area for economic growth and improved living standards.
“I feel very happy and great bringing development to the people of these communities. This is a new phase for them, as they are now feeling the impact of governance, which should always be closer to the people,” he said.
“You can see the happiness on the faces of the people. They had not experienced government presence in a long time, but my administration is determined to ensure every part of Edo State enjoys the dividends of good governance.
“This substation will definitely open up this area and stimulate economic development, as businesses will thrive with regular electricity supply,” the governor added.
Also speaking at the event, the Business Head, Technical Operations of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Engr. Mokwenye Jidenmah, commended the governor for the timely completion of the substation. He assured that Udomi and neighboring communities would soon begin to benefit from the project.
“This is a 2.5MVA injection substation designed to serve over nine transformers around here, stepping down the 33kV line to 11kV. The red line will be energized at 11kV, and before the end of today, the community will start enjoying electricity supply,” he stated.
The electricity extension Phase II of the project will connect six additional communities, namely: Udomi 1, Ujabhole 1, Unogbo, Idimoghodor, Ibhioloulu, and Afuda, all in Uwessan.
