The Management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has debunked recent online allegations of corruption, describing them as baseless and an attempt to derail ongoing reforms.
In a strongly worded statement, Otunba Mike Aladenika, Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of Information and Public Relations, said: “While we typically ignore faceless publications, we feel compelled to set the record straight.”
He said the publication appeared to be the handiwork of mischief makers and enemies of progress who thrived during the University’s dark years and are now threatened by the Governor’s resolve to reposition the institution.
Aladenika highlighted the progress made under the leadership of Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel, the Chief Dan Orbih-led Governing Council, and Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo. These include the revival of the College of Medicine, induction of 810 graduate nurses and medical doctors, increased JAMB intake, promotion of deserving staff, and implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage.
He clarified that delays in academic calendars were inherited from previous administrations, and that the current leadership has prioritized the timely release of results to avoid prolonged student sessions.
Addressing other claims, he debunked reports about TETFUND contract awards and the Director of Audit’s foreign trip, explaining that the trip was a nationwide program and not peculiar to AAU. He also dismissed criticisms surrounding the Vice-Chancellor selection process, noting that all procedures were duly followed.
The University reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and academic excellence, urging the public to disregard the misleading reports.
