Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has revealed that he is now considering starting a family as he marks his 34th birthday.
Speaking during his birthday celebration in Lagos on Wednesday night, the self-styled ‘African Giant’ told guests that he feels it is time to have children, noting that age is no longer on his side.
Burna Boy disclosed that a recent conversation with Nigerian oil magnate, Jowizaza, made him reflect deeply on his life and priorities.
“Na so Jowizaza follow me talk the last time, I come dey think about my life. Omo, I don dey old oh, I for begin born pikins,” Burna Boy said in Pidgin, drawing cheers and laughter from friends and family at the party.
The “Tatata” hitmaker’s statement marks a significant shift from his previous stance. In May last year, Burna Boy made headlines when he openly stated that he was not ready to have children, insisting he could not yet give them the attention and care they deserve. He had maintained that he would only have kids when he felt more settled or was married.
Burna Boy, who has continued to dominate the global music scene with chart-topping hits and sold-out tours, remains one of Africa’s most influential artists. His possible transition into fatherhood has already sparked reactions from fans and industry watchers, many of whom see it as another sign of the singer’s growth and evolving priorities.
As Burna Boy turns a new chapter at 34, his fans and well-wishers will be keenly watching to see if the African Giant’s next big project might just be starting a family of his own.
