Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commissioned key infrastructure projects worth over ₦14 billion in Sokoto State, reaffirming his commitment to inter-state cooperation and national development.
Governor Okpebholo, who was the special guest of Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, commissioned the Tamaje Water Scheme and the Mabera Township Roads as part of activities marking the second anniversary of Governor Aliyu’s administration.
The Tamaje Water Scheme, valued at approximately ₦14.1 billion, is designed to significantly boost potable water supply to residents of Sokoto metropolis and surrounding communities.
In addition to the water project, the governor also commissioned three newly constructed roads under the Mabera Township Roads project, which cost over ₦2 billion in total. These roads are aimed at improving traffic flow and addressing the perennial flooding challenges in the Mabera area.
Speaking at the event, Governor Okpebholo congratulated Governor Aliyu and the people of Sokoto State for what he described as remarkable strides in infrastructural development.
“I congratulate my brother Governor and the great people of Sokoto State for their strides in development. Together, we will continue to advance progress, unity, and shared prosperity across Nigeria,” Okpebholo said.
Governor Aliyu, on his part, thanked the Edo State Governor for honouring his invitation to perform the commissioning, describing the projects as critical to improving the quality of life for the people of Sokoto State.
Residents expressed appreciation to both governors for demonstrating genuine commitment to people-oriented governance and strengthening the bond of unity among states.
The event attracted top government officials, traditional leaders, and community members, who described the commissioning as a sign of growing collaboration among progressive leaders across Nigeria.
