The Jigawa State Police Command
Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam has said that a man who attempted to vandalize armoured cables at the Jigawa State Secretariat Complex in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital has died after he got electrocuted.

He said the incident occurred around 10 am on Wednesday as the Police received a distress call from the Ministry of Works regarding the event and responded swiftly.

The statement revealed that upon the arrival of the police, they discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified male adult under a slab containing electrical wiring.

According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, preliminary investigations showed that the deceased was electrocuted while attempting to vandalise the cables.

“The body, which had begun to decompose, was evacuated to the Dutse General Hospital for a medical examination. This gruesome incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with vandalising public infrastructure, particularly electrical installations,” the PPRO said.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious person or activity in their communities to the nearest police station.

“This incident highlights the importance of community policing and cooperation in maintaining security,” he added.

The PPRO, however, confirmed that the police were working to identify the deceased and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“As the investigation progresses, the command will provide additional updates. This incident serves as a warning to would-be vandals and a reminder of the consequences of their actions,” Adam stated.
