The Edo State Police command Police Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Yamu has denied knowledge of the arrest of a foremost human rights activist and Coordinator General of the Edo Civil Society Organizations (EDOCSO), Comrade Omobude Agho.

However there are indications that Agho was arrested and detained according to a social media post by Leftist Osaze Edigin, a human rights activist and former Public Relations Officer of the rights group,

He said Agho is being held at the state police command over proposed protest to the “governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo over the massive extortion reported by Edo people by officers of Edo state police command over the state government fight against cultism.”

Leftist Edigin further called on the state Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika to “as a matter of urgency release him in order not to further worsen the already tense situation.

“It’s the inalienable and constitutional rights of citizens to protest.”
