As the third day of the National Sports Festival unfolds, Team Edo has made a significant mark, demonstrating their determination to excel with an impressive medal haul.
The highlight so far is John Aladetun’s outstanding performance in the 67kg men’s weightlifting competition, where he clinched two gold medals and one silver medal. Other weightlifters also bolstered the team’s tally with five silver and one bronze medals.
In Kung Fu, Team Edo continued their strong showing, securing one silver and seven bronze medals. Notably, Kelly Alonge delivered a standout performance, winning one gold medal in the Kung Fu Taolu category, further increasing Edo’s medal count.
In total, Team Edo has amassed 17 medals, reflecting a strong start to the festival.
Meanwhile, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, expressed pride in Team Edo’s performance during an interview. He praised the athletes’ dedication and emphasized that teamwork, discipline, and resilience are key to achieving success at the prestigious event.
He also reaffirmed Edo State’s commitment to excellence and assured continued support and motivation for the athletes to bring home even more medals.
