An English Beretta pistol, a locally fabricated pistol, an ammunition, 18 live cartridges, 5 mobile devices, one electronic tablet, charms and illicit drugs have been recovered from a police raid at a hotel in Benin City.
In addition 4 Mercedes-Benz vehicles viz; one (1) black C350, one (1) grey C300, one (1) grey GLA 250, and one (1) red GLE 350 all unregistered were also retrieved from the suspected armed robbers/kidnappers/cultists who were hibernating at the Hotel.
Edo State Police Public Relations Officer CSP Emma Yamu who confirmed the incident in a statement said it is part of the sustained raids against criminals by operatives of the Anti Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Unit of the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID).
“During the operation, one Endurance Oviojie 22yrs was arrested while others later identified as Clinton, Jeff, Mike, and Emmanuel alias Slim Khalifa surnames yet unknown escaped through the fence to neighboring compounds.
“The following exhibits were immediately recovered in their possession; One (1) English Beretta pistol, one (1) locally fabricated pistol, one (1) ammunition, eighteen (18) live cartridges, five (5) handsets of various make, one (1) electronic tablet, charms and illicit drugs were recovered.
“Further investigations led to the recovery of Four (4) Mercedes-Benz vehicles viz; one (1) black C350, one (1) grey C300, one (1) grey GLA 250, and one (1) red GLE 350 all unregistered”.
The statement added that, “The arrested suspects have been charged to court for prosecution while the manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang continues.
“CP Monday Agbonika, fdc warns all criminals to either relocate from the State or face the music. He assures the good people of the Edo State that the Command would sustain its commitment against crime until everyone feels safe anywhere he/she is”, he said.
