Edo State government has announced the immediate termination of its contract with New Globe, with immediate effect.

The contract was initiated in 2018, to support the digital transformation of basic education and to improve literacy and numeracy outcomes across primary and junior secondary schools.

Newly appointed Executive Chairman, Hon. Omonzane Ebanehita Sonia.Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) said to be decision comes after a series of high-level consultations, including a meeting with representatives of New Globe and thorough deliberations by Board members, secretary to the board and directors.

Accordingly, all program activities carried out by New Globe in Edo State primary and junior secondary schools are now suspended. A formal letter of disengagement has been issued, duly acknowledged, and signed by the contractor, confirming the cessation of all engagements under the auspices of SUBEB.

It was gathered that while the collaboration yielded some early results, recent assessments raised concerns about the alignment of New Globe’s operations with the evolving standards and strategic direction of Edo State’s basic education system.
