691 candidates of Delta origin have been shortlisted for the Nigerian Army’s 89th Regular Recruits Intake (RRI) screening exercise. The figures
represent the highest number recorded by the state in decades.
Towards this end the Delta State Government has resolved to provide full logistics and welfare support for all the candidates participating in the exercise.
Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, who states this at Asaba said the screening exercise has new dates.
The statement confirmed the reschedule of the screening from Sunday, June 8 to Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Cenotaph Complex, High Court Road, Asaba, starting at 7:00 a.m. daily.
Oghenesivbe noted that the new dates replace the earlier schedule of June 2 to 16, and urged all shortlisted candidates to take note of the adjustment.
The statement added, “In line with his commitment to youth empowerment and national service, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has directed the State Awareness Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services to be fully on ground during the exercise to support candidates with logistics, welfare, and coordination.
“The state government will also provide buses at key locations across the three senatorial districts to convey candidates to and from the screening venue”.
Dr. Oghenesivbe said that successful candidates will proceed directly to Zaria for training, and advised all participants to come with original copies of necessary documents and ensure they are in good physical and mental health.
He also advised candidates with medical conditions such as hypertension, high blood pressure, or epilepsy not to present themselves for the exercise.
