The VIP screening of the film, ‘AKATE’, wholly shot in Edo state has taken place in Benin City, Edo State capital with HRH Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom, Ezelekhae Ewuare ll, as special guest.
Written and directed by Ino Moses, with Emoke Oyanogbezina (King Zina) who single-handedly financed it, as the executive producer, AKATE, the movie seeks to promote Edo culture.
It is a film that explores the recurring elements of irregular migration, betrayal, cultism, reparation and the experiences of some returnees back home.
A guest at the screening and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Arts, Culture & Tourism, Iryn Omorogiuwa Esq applauded the initiative of the film producer and reiterated the State government’s commitment to improving the lot of film productions.
She said this is why the government, amongst others provided free location access approvals, reduced costs of accommodation at the Edonimose Residence, the use of Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub and the Film Production centre.
She encouraged film producers to utilize the facilities citing the success of ‘Akate’ Production crew at the Edo film production studio.
