A high-level meeting aimed at enhancing protection for victims of gender-based violence (GBV) has ended in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

The meeting, which also focused on expediting GBV cases and streamlining processes for effective support, was convened by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Chief Bisi Idaomi, at the instance of the Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Daniel Okungbowa.

Held at the High Court of Justice in Benin City, the gathering brought together key stakeholders, including the Chief Judge, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, and some justices of the High Court.

At the event, Justice Okungbowa commended the efforts of the Executive and identified areas for improvement in handling GBV matters. CP Agbonika also pledged to tackle the challenges faced by victims in accessing justice and protection.
