National Association of Seadogs, Pyrates Confraternity , Akwa Ibom chapter also known as Sancta Riviera Deck, is set to hold its annual Feast of Barracuda on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the EEMJM Hotel Hall, located on Dominic Utuk Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The association says that this year’s event will explore the theme: “Local Government Autonomy in Nigeria: A Panacea for Effective Development at the Grassroots – Prospects and Challenges”, at a gathering which “aims to provide a critical platform for dissecting the barriers and opportunities around achieving full local government autonomy in Nigeria, an issue that continues to stir debates within policy and governance circles”.
The Guest Speaker and panel of discussants at the event will bring diverse perspectives to the table, with the goal of offering actionable insights for policy makers, stakeholders, and the general public.
The event will be hosted by Mr. Mfoniso Akpablo, Capoon of the Senete Riviera Deck, and will feature a range of distinguished personalities including:
Hon. Emeka Tommy Obioma, Member of the Abia State House of Assembly, as Special Guest of Honour
Rt. Hon. (Chief) Effiong Johnson, Member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, also as Guest of Honour
Barr. Uwem Ekanem, serving as Chairman of the session
Barr. Diamond Akpanika, who will act as Moderator
The Feast of Barracuda, a flagship event of the Pyrates Confraternity, is a platform for civic engagement, public enlightenment, and advocacy on national development issues.
“This year’s focus on grassroots governance underscores the group’s commitment to promoting transparent and accountable democratic structures”, according to the association.
