The Edo State Taskforce on the Protection of Government Properties has restated its unwavering commitment to safeguarding public assets across the state.
In a public notice, the Taskforce emphasized that its core mandate is to prevent encroachment, vandalism, theft, and unauthorized occupation of government-owned lands, buildings, infrastructure, and facilities.
According to the notice, the Taskforce was constituted to serve as a frontline mechanism in securing state resources from misuse and illegal acquisition by private individuals or groups.
It warned that any person or group found trespassing on government properties would face the full weight of the law, as provisions have been made for prosecution and removal of illegal structures without further notice.
The notice further urged members of the public, especially residents and community leaders, to support the Taskforce’s efforts by reporting suspicious activities around public assets to relevant authorities.
It stressed that preserving government property is a collective responsibility aimed at ensuring that state resources are available for the benefit of all citizens, both present and future.
The Taskforce reiterated that it will continue to carry out regular monitoring, enforcement drives, and sensitization campaigns to protect critical public infrastructure and ensure accountability in the use of government assets.
