A socio-cultural and non-profit group, N’Edo Gheria, has called on recipients of the ₦1 billion interest-free loan recently launched by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to make good use of the funds for meaningful economic activities.
In a statement signed by the group’s National Convener, Comrade Ebojele Patrick, and made available to journalists in Benin City, the organization praised the initiative as a strategic empowerment tool that could lift the state’s economy.
According to Comrade Ebojele, the initiative is designed to support small businesses and household enterprises across Edo, injecting capital that will boost trade, create wealth, and raise the confidence of local entrepreneurs.
“This initiative reflects what public service should be about—keeping promises and impacting lives. Governor Okpebholo has shown leadership by action,” he said.
He encouraged all beneficiaries to channel the loan into productive ventures, urging them to justify the gesture and inspire the Governor to do even more.
The ₦1 billion loan scheme offers beneficiaries between ₦200,000 and ₦500,000 each, with a one-month moratorium and a 12-month repayment window—all interest-free. It was officially launched by the Governor on Friday.
