The Lagos State Government has urged residents to report all case of illegal discharge of raw sewage into a public drainage channel.
The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a statement said this as the government sealed a residential property at No. 59, Ajoke Okusanya Street, off Ago Palace Way, Okota.
The enforcement action was carried out on Saturday by officials of the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office, following surveillance and confirmed reports.
According to the ministry, it was revealed that the occupants of the building were discharging untreated sewage directly from their septic tank into the surrounding environment.
Describing the act as a breach of environmental regulations, the ministry warned that such practices posed a threat to public health and safety.
