Edo State Police Command have recorded breakthroughs in the fight against crime in the state with the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a suspected armed robber.
CSP Moses Joel Yamu, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Edo State Command, in a statement said that, ,”On June 2, 2025, officers attached to the Oba Market Police Division, while on routine patrol along Ireghie Street off Ero Palace Road in Benin City, intercepted a suspicious black Toyota Camry Saloon car with registration number BEN 962 CN.
” Upon sighting the police, the vehicle’s occupants abandoned the car and fled on foot into the surrounding neighbourhood”
According to the PPRO, “Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle belonged to one Enakhe Samuel Esizobor and had been reported stolen at gunpoint the previous day, June 1, 2025, along Omoruyi Street in the Isihor Community, Ugbowo, Benin City.
“The recovered vehicle has since been returned to its rightful owner as investigations continue to apprehend the fleeing suspects”.
He said “Investigations suggest that Ahambe may be a member of a gang responsible for a string of armed robberies and attacks on motorists and commuters along the Benin-Lagos expressway. Efforts are currently ongoing to track down other members of the gang and recover additional weapons”.
Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to making Edo State safe and secure.
