The seven-day ultimatum issued to the Edo State House of Assembly by workers under the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) over their exclusion from the ₦70,000 and ₦75,000 minimum wage package has entered its third day as of Wednesday.

The aggrieved workers, during a meeting, resolved to issue the strike notice to the leadership of the House, effective Monday, June 16, 2025. As a symbolic act of protest, the workers have since begun wearing black attire to the office.

They expressed frustration over being sidelined from the recently implemented wage structure, which has already been extended to staff in other government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

The workers are also demanding inclusion in the new special salary scheme for staff of state Houses of Assembly across the country, following the constitutional grant of financial autonomy to the legislature.
