Bendel Insurance Football Club has announced Sunday, June 22, 2025, as the resumption date for preparations ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
In response to the announcement, the Chief Osadolor Ogiefa-led Supporters’ Club has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the team, pledging steadfast loyalty “come rain or sun.”
Chief Ogiefa made the declaration during a joint meeting with members of the Supporters’ Club and the club’s technical crew in Benin City. He praised the resilience of the Coach Greg Ikhenoba-led technical crew, especially their impressive turnaround last season from near relegation to a top-five finish.
“Nobody gave us a chance, but you fought back and made us proud. That was a remarkable feat. We must build on it and aim higher next season,” Ogiefa said.
He urged the technical crew to prioritize teamwork, player discipline, and smart recruitment, stressing the collective readiness of the Edo State Government, the club’s management, and supporters to support the team toward a podium finish in the new season.
Coach Greg Ikhenoba, in his remarks, appreciated the supporters for their loyalty and encouragement during a challenging season. He promised that his crew would work harder to bring home laurels.
“The support we received during the tough times was overwhelming. We were close to clinching a CAF ticket, and with your continued support, we believe we’ll go even further next season,” he said.
According to a circular released by Club Secretary Charles Ihimekpen, players and officials are to resume on Sunday, June 22, 2025, with the first training session scheduled for Monday, June 23, at 8:00 a.m.
The players have been on break since the conclusion of the 2024/25 season on May 25. The NPFL management has fixed August 22, 2025, as the kickoff date for the 2025/26 league season.
