Edo State Government is asking parents and guardians to help Keep Polio at Zero in the State by ensuring that they bring out their children for vaccination against polio and other deadly but preventable diseases.
Towards this end the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), in collaboration with key development partners including the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, gas announced that the second round of the 2025 National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) Vaccination Campaign will commence across the state on JUNE 28, 2025.
According to the agency the campaign which is part of ongoing efforts to sustain Edo’s polio-free status and protect children against vaccine-preventable diseases will take place from June 28 to July 3, 2025, and targets all children aged 0 to 5 years across the state.
It added that during the immunization period, trained vaccination teams will move from house to house, schools, churches, mosques, and community centers, administering two drops of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) to every eligible child—regardless of prior immunization status.
It called on Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to bring their child’s immunization card to the nearest Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC), adding that in addition to the polio vaccine, routine childhood immunizations will be made available at all PHCs to ensure comprehensive protection for children.
