The highpoint of the inaugural regional meeting of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) held in Benin City weekend is the official welcoming of Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State into the fold of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the communique issued at the end of the meeting, the Forum described Governor Eno’s decision to join the ruling party along with his supporters as “a reflection of the growing national consensus on the transformative policies being implemented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.”

Eno was with his brother governors as they paid homage to the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, reaffirming their respect for traditional institutions and the cultural heritage of the Nigerian people.
