As part of efforts to internationalize education and unlock economic growth, the governments of Edo and Ondo States have taken major diplomatic and technical steps to forge strategic partnerships with global institutions.

In Benin City, Edo State, Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo on Monday hosted the Chairman, Ling Qidan, and members of the council of Fujian Jiangxia University of China.

The high-powered visit culminated in the formalization of a technical partnership between Fujian Jiangxia University and Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, scheduled to take off in the next academic session.

Governor Okpebholo, while expressing delight at the development, described the collaboration as a milestone that would open fresh frontiers in knowledge sharing and technological advancement for Edo students.

“This partnership is about the future of our youth. It is a gateway to global standards in science, technology, and innovation, which will empower our students to compete favorably with their peers worldwide,” he said.

The State Commissioner for Education applauded the Governor’s foresight and commitment to educational transformation, noting that the agreement followed months of groundwork, including strategic engagement with the Chinese Consulate.

“This is proof that Governor Okpebholo is passionate about delivering quality education and creating international opportunities for Edo youths,” the Commissioner added.

Meanwhile, in Akure, Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa also hosted the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Nigeria, Mr. Krejci Zdenek, in another high-level meeting aimed at forging bilateral cooperation for sustainable development.

Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for global investors and technological partners.

“We are committed to building a stable political and economic climate that attracts investment. Our arms are open to partners from the Czech Republic and beyond,” Aiyedatiwa said.

Ambassador Zdenek, speaking during the visit, highlighted his country’s industrial legacy, especially in advanced machinery, construction, and renewable energy. He expressed optimism about a mutually beneficial partnership with Ondo State.

“We believe that working with Ondo State will contribute meaningfully to your developmental agenda, particularly in agriculture, infrastructure, and power,” the Ambassador said.

The Czech delegation, which included key development and business stakeholders, emphasized that the cooperation would facilitate economic growth, skills transfer, and youth empowerment.

Dignitaries present at the meeting included Ondo State Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, Chief of Staff Prince Segun Omojuwa, and key officials from the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA).
